Design/Project Electrical Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically driven Design / Project Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial and public sector developments.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you will contribute to the delivery of innovative electrical engineering solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, from – concept development and detailed design through to tender, construction, commissioning and project handover.
This position is ideally suited to an engineer seeking to further develop their technical expertise while gaining valuable project delivery and client-facing experience within a collaborative consultancy environment.
Key Areas of Impact
- Support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion.
- Prepare electrical engineering designs, calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
- Assist in the development of sustainable, energy-efficient and technically robust engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, structural engineers, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Contribute to design coordination activities and ensure integration of electrical services within overall project requirements.
- Participate in site inspections, commissioning activities and quality reviews throughout project delivery.
- Assist with tender documentation, technical evaluations and contractor queries.
- Monitor project progress and support the achievement of quality, programme and budget objectives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards and project-specific requirements, including BCAR where applicable.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience within a building services consultancy or similar engineering environment.
- Experience in the design and coordination of electrical building services systems.
- Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarm systems and associated building services infrastructure.
- Familiarity with relevant Irish and international design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience with industry-standard design software (Dialux, Lighting Reality, Amtech, Elevate, etc.) and BIM/Revit environments would be advantageous.
- Membership of, or progression towards, a recognised professional engineering institution would be desirable.
