Around the world, Aviva provides around 18 million customers with insurance, savings and investment products in our core markets (UK, Canada, Ireland) in 2020. They provide life insurance, general insurance and asset management services. Aviva is the landlord for this building, now named Zurich House.
Zurich House is a large-scale CAT A office development located behind the shopping centre in Blackrock. It gets its name from the occupier, the insurance company, Zurich.
Axiseng was commissioned by the architect to design the mechanical and electrical services for a Grade A office development and to achieve a LEED Gold standard.
The main challenge of this project stemmed from the requirement of the LEED Gold standard due to the limited plant space available.
This was overcome by working closely with the suppliers of all major pieces of equipment to ensure that all the equipment being installed would have the required components and achieve the high efficiencies needed to achieve the LEED Gold Standard while still fitting in a reduced plant area on the roof.
The building achieved a LEED Gold Rating.
The completion of the building had a major impact on the community as it was part of the full revitalisation of this area which included remodelling works of the Blackrock Village Centre and Trident House.
The building’s upper floors boast fantastic views over Dublin bay and across to the Dublin mountains and after the fit-out by Zurich houses hundreds of new employees bringing footfall to the adjacent shopping centre and surrounding areas.
