The Mont

96 bedrooms

Dublin, Ireland

2018, 2019

Opened in July 2019, The Mont is Dublin’s newest hotel with its hub of activity and beautiful designer bedrooms. A part of the O’Callaghan Collection, it boasts Dublin’s fastest hotel WiFi (1GB), The Sin Bin bar, Speranza woodfire pizza restaurant and a top-class gym featuring all the latest equipment.

The Mont designer-led bedrooms along with the cool fit-out throughout the entire hotel creates a new type of hotel experience. The restaurant, conceived as a minimal and pared-back environment, is an open, airy space, which utilizes a restrained palette of materials, allowing the food to take centre stage.

Axiseng were contracted to design M&E services for the front-of-house, the back-of-house and relocation of the plantroom.

We were responsible for above ground soils and waste installation, water services installation, natural gas installation, VRF System serving the FOH and BOH, LTHW heating, ventilation systems, BMS installation, commissioning, balancing, treatment and sterilisation of the mechanical services systems.

Where possible, the existing services were retained. The electrical services included lighting & emergency lighting fittings, containment & power for all services, MDB & SDB panels along with appropriate energy meters, general power & mechanical plant power, power, floorboxes & containment requirements for AV systems, controls for lighting, Cat6 structured cabling system, all life safety systems, intruder alarm system and speaker system.

The project challenges came from multiple changes to the brief where we had to react promptly and coordinate the updated designs with other design team members to avoid any future clashes. The hotel is also located in a zone with existing planning constrains which proved to be challenging in terms of architectural and building services designs as there were limitations in place.

Early coordination and extensive design workshops ensured that the design complied with all the requirements from the onset of the project and it was delivered on time and on budget.
