Following completion of the initial phase of the Susquehanna International Group (SIG) head office in 2014 at Dublin’s IFSC, due to company staff expansion, Axiseng were appointed again to lead the design and installation of the mechanical and electrical systems for the ground and second floor areas. As a global quantitative trading organisation, SIG depends on a strong, resilient and extremely fast ICT network to operate efficiently in the high-speed, high-tech trading environment.
An extraordinary mechanical and electrical plant was required to meet the Client’s operational needs.
The project involved the modernisation of the 1970s building, including mechanical and electrical infrastructure
so it could support the high occupation densities and high-tech workstations.
From a design perspective, the project team was able to maximise the space in the ground and second floors, so they could accommodate the necessary work zones to home the ever-expanding SIG workforce. The iterative design of the programme allowed for constant communication between the team and the US-based client.
The new services included HVAC, general and decorative lighting, workstation power and a dense ICT network and an IDF relocation.
Other key spaces included in the fit out consisted of work café, meeting rooms, training area with state-of-the-art interactive AV installation.
Power, HVAC, security and electronic connectivity were of paramount importance. All of these systems had to be integrated with, and controlled by, a sophisticated BMS, which was extended from the upper levels to the new spaces.
