Novartis, based in Switzerland, is a global healthcare company that provides solutions to address the evolving needs of patients around the world. Their expansion within the industry brought them to establish their Global Business Services Centre in Elm Park, Dublin 4.
The project consisted of the fit-out of all floors to create an open plan office space, cellular meeting rooms, break out spaces, print station, catering facility and ancillary areas, recreational space and ICT rooms for network distribution. The office block was designed and constructed using the latest sustainable technologies and is generally naturally ventilated with heating provided from a district heating system. The CAT B design maintains as far as possible the sustainable elements of the base build mechanical and electrical designs and architectural features.
Axiseng was commissioned by AECOM as part of an overall design team for our technical expertise in the intricate modelling required to complete a natural ventilation project.
The client had an extremely strong environmental policy which required carrying through the project, a challenge that was successfully overcome by completing extensive modelling of the open plan and cellular spaces to ensure that the spaces met the design criteria. This included completing CFD’s and thermal modelling of the overall space.
At completion, the overall refurbishment provided the large company a modern and comfortable office space fitted out to high sustainability standards for both staff and clients to enjoy.
