The National Transport Authority (NTA) is a statutory body established by the Minister for Transport in 2009. At a national level, the NTA has responsibility for securing the provision of public passenger land transport services.
The Haymarket House development on Smithfield Square in Dublin 7 was completed in 2022 and consists of 6,880m2 of new office build, in addition to an underground car park and sub-basement level plant rooms. The office areas have been fitted out to a Cat A level and include meeting rooms, boardrooms, phonebooths, open plan office, collaboration spaces, tea stations, IDF rooms, a canteen and an IT workshop.
Axiseng was commissioned by the client to lead the mechanical and electrical services design of the development, which consisted of the fit-out of 6,880m² of total office space.
The NTA were in several different offices, spread out over a number of different buildings in Dublin 2. Their desire was to create a single headquarters building to house everyone in one location.
The project timeline was highly constrained due to the lease of one of the premises being up by September 2024. To facilitate this, the fitout was completed in a phased approach to allow partial occupation.
The design was completed in BIM, with all services being co-ordinated in 3D. Particular attention was given to the high-level electrical services that required very detailed co-ordination due to the NTA’s high specification for IT, AV and security, over and above the typical office fitout, due to the nature of their work.
