Located just south of Dublin City Centre, Leopardstown Racecourse hosts some of Ireland’s most prestigious horse racing events including the Irish Champion Stakes held every September.
The redevelopment project of Leopardstown Racecourse aimed to enhance the racing experience at Leopardstown, which is now centred around the hub of the parade ring. We worked previously on earlier phases of the project with the design team. Phase 1 was completed in 2013, Phase 2 in 2015 and Phase 3 (final phase) was finished in November 2021.
Earlier phases have included upgrading of the existing grandstand buildings with enhanced hospitality and circulation facilities.
The final phase included a new weighroom building and second entrance building, entertainment marquee, racing hall hospitality area, prize-winners’ podium and new saddling stalls and pre-parade ring to be relocated directly south of the parade ring complete with extensive external works and repaving.
The M&E plans considered the intensive and challenging construction programme of the development phases and the work around the racing schedule. We collaborated closely with the contractor on-site to ensure the staged handover was achieved and to the rigid deadlines were met.
The mechanical installations included a central boiler plant, ventilation supply and extract systems, air-handling units, toilet extract ventilation systems, compensated radiant heating, low temperature hot water pipework distribution, acoustic and vibration control related to mechanical services, mechanical control centres, BMS, gas distribution from gas meter to boiler room, gas detection in boiler rooms and kitchen, electric heating and hot water services.
