Since 1890 when the business was founded, K+N has grown into one of the world’s leading logistics providers. Today, the Kuehne + Nagel Group has some 1,300 offices in over 100 countries, with around 79,000 employees. The key business activities and market position are built on the company’s world class capabilities, they are #1 global sea freight forwarder, #2 global air cargo forwarder and contract logistics provider.

The project is a full category A & B works within their new warehouse and office space consisting of circa 20,000 sqf of office space with a further 120,000 sqf of temperature-controlled warehouse and storage facility.

The building’s office space, which includes open plan offices, meeting rooms, a canteen area and ancillary rooms, is served by a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system for air-conditioning, an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) to the comms room and Cat A structured cabling throughout.

One of the client’s requirements was an energy efficient solution to supporting the warehouse temperature control. Amongst the option Axiseng considered at model design stage were natural ventilation, full air-conditioning and de-stratification of the space to ensure an even temperature across the entire storage facility.

After testing, we chose a system of induction that ensures minimal energy usage for air distribution, whilst also maintaining the required temperatures.
