HEAnet

HEAnet is Ireland’s National Education & Research Network, providing Internet connectivity and associated ICT Services to education and research organisations throughout Ireland.

This project consisted of the CAT A / CAT B fit-out of the entire third floor in North Dock Two, 93/94 North Wall Quay, Dublin 1.
The fit-out consisted of open plan office area, meeting rooms, breakout spaces and a large canteen. The landlord plant and toilet cores were fully retained.

Axiseng was commissioned by DMOD to lead the M&E fit-out design incorporating sustainable principles throughout.

Axiseng provided water and drainage services, cooling and heating via waterside 4-pipe fan coil units, ventilation, fire protection and BMS controls design. Electrical design services included high/low level distribution, general and emergency lighting, security and protective services. The area of works was fully sprinklered to BS EN 12845.

A challenge for this project was the arrangement of “Westdock” steel structure, and the significant design coordination was carried out pre-construction stage.

One of the main challenges on this project was developing the electrical and AV/ IT brief with the client’s team. Through our ISO-accredited data sheets and matrices we were able to fully develop the brief, present the impacts and get the design signed off.

The success of this project depended on our close co-ordination with the architect, taking into consideration the interior finishes, whilst maximising the mechanical and electrical performance from the existing services.
