Half Moon Street, which was completed in 2009, is one of the most significant mixed-use assets in Cork City and provides 120,000 sqft of space in a prime waterfront location, overlooking the River Lee. The building is split between 56,000 sq ft of Grade A office and 63,000 sq ft of flagship retail space let to two blue-chip tenants.
The building sits at the corner of Half Moon Street and Lavitt’s Quay and is within walking distance of Cork’s principal shopping streets, Opera Lane and Patrick Street, and The Elysian, the client’s, Kennedy Wilson’s, existing multifamily presence in Cork.
The recently completed fit-out consisted of refurbishment of the existing ground floor providing new reception and entrance lobby with meeting rooms and staff showering & changing areas and indoor bicycle parking.
Axiseng was commissioned by the client to deliver a fast-paced fit-out for one of their properties in Cork, Ireland.
One of the challenges of the project was to maintain the tenants’ access and M&E systems whilst carrying out the refurbishment works and modifications to existing building-wide systems. We ensured this through the communication with the tenant and design team to ensure any effected systems were taken offline in an acceptable manner to allow modifications.
Interestingly, the refurbished area surrounded a listed city centre house (currently offices) – the listed building is completely stand-alone structure inside the newly refurbished area.
The occupants and visitors can now enjoy improved amenities for existing tenants and improved entrance lobby. The project also improved the buildings visual from street level as it was previously an empty street level unit.
