BrewDog is a multinational brewery and pub chain based in Ellon, Scotland. It was founded in 2007 by James Watt and Martin Dickie.
This project consisted of a grey box fit-out over 2 levels in the recently completed Capital Dock development on Dublin’s South Quays. It included an on-site microbrewery, two Olympic-sized shuffleboards, an outside terrace, heated roof garden and two bars, each featuring 30 taps.
Axiseng were commissioned by the client for our experience with retail fit-out projects and our knowledge of the Capital Dock building since we were involved in the basebuild.
The fit-out programme had to coordinate with licencing agreements at end of year which proved to be challenging. We also had to carefully tie the client’s services into the existing Landlord site services.
Another challenge was posed by working with international contractors who were not familiar with the BC(A)R process and Irish regulations. This was managed through efficient communication and a hands-on approach.
The project is served from 4No. heat recovery units providing ventilation to bar and back of house areas. Ceiling-mounted cassette units provide heatig & cooling to the space. Services are routed through the castillated beams within the space. A feature solid fuel fire pit is located centrally in the bar with specially commissioned flue/chimney routing to roof level.
High effieicincy LED lighting is utilised throughout. The fire alarm system is designed to tie in with the overall campus-wide system.
The positive development for the surrounding area was an increase in leisure facilities around Sir John Rogerson’s Quat and Capital Dock for the growing number of office workers and residential tenants.
