Avolon is a leading global aircraft leasing firm providing leasing and lease management services to airlines and aircraft investors worldwide. They are currently ranked as the third biggest aircraft leasing company in the world.
This recently completed development in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, consists of fit-out of seven floors of office space, including 260-person auditorium, canteen, basement shower areas, bike storage areas, comms rooms, yoga studio, TV studio, high-end meeting rooms and open plan office spaces.
Axiseng was commissioned by the client to lead the mechanical and electrical services design of the development – a large-scale office space to accommodate its expanding work-force.
The project design brief changed throughout the construction process, resulting in numerous revised M&E designs which needed to be produced within very short timescales to meet the very ambitious project program.
Intensive engagement with the design team was required in order to keep the M&E design up to date with the constantly evolving architectural design intent.
The design co-ordination between mechanical and electrical services was extremely difficult as there was a mix of ceiling types, shallow voids and exposed ceiling areas. The design had to facilitate minimal number of crossovers between exposed ceilings and circulation spaces. The fin-type ceiling type employed over open plan desks required a high level of co-ordination between the selected LED light fitting and the ceiling grilles.
The location of the building, No.1 Ballsbridge, is a highly sought-after address, an Avoca store and Dylan McGrath restaurant are going in on ground floor level. The Avolon offices were officially opened in September 2018 by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
