Áras an Uachtaráin

1,750 m2

Dublin, Ireland

2012

Built in 1751, the Áras an Uachtaráin is the official residence of the President of Ireland. Located centrally in Phoenix Park on the north side of Dublin, the 95-room historical building was originally designed by architect Nathaniel Clements.

Axiseng was commissioned by The Office of Public Works to review the existing electrical services installation on the ground floor and the Sacristy and Chapel on the first floor at the famous landmark.

After careful inspection of the building, the existing electrical installations were identified to be in extremely poor condition and required urgent replacement.

The project, being a live building, required careful planning as to minimize disruption to the President’s public functions and operational needs at the Aras. In order to meet the client’s stringent requirements, the project team completed all of the electrical installations on a phased basis. In additional the challenges, the urgency of the project meant that the design of the wiring and fittings must take into consideration as to minimize the impact on the existing finishes in this prestigious heritage building.
