MetLife, Inc. is a leading global provider of insurance, annuities and employee benefit programs. Established in 2002, the head office located in the Alico Building on Hatch Street, Dublin 2 is the functional hub for operations across Europe. The project comprised of the fit-out on the fourth floor of the open plan office space, cellular office space, meeting rooms, pantry/kitchen/tea station, comms room and print/secure file room.
The building consisted of 5 floors and a basement level. The fourth floor area was provided with recessed 1200mm x 300mm fluorescent luminaries in the ceiling of the open plan area. The fit-out included for down lights and decorative fittings in the meeting rooms and closed office areas. The open plan area was served via desk mounted power and IT outlets with recessed floor boxes serving the meeting room and closed office areas. The electrical services were supplied from its own sub-distribution board capable of being metered by ESB from the switchgear located in the basement.
The building was fully mechanically serviced, with fresh air supplied by a central AHU serving the space via the floor plenum and floor grilles, and with the heating and cooling provided by trench units and radiators. The trench system was decommissioned, drained down and isolated but retained within the floor void. The open plan office area was conditioned using two number downflow AHU units located within the floor plate in acoustically treated enclosures. A new VRV system was installed to providing heating and cooling to all cellular spaces. Water services and drainage services were provided to the new pantry area.
